Job Title: Credit Controller

Location: Ashford, this role is office based, but flexibility is available to attend appointments etc

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000

Duration: 3 month FTC (Please speak to us about Permanent opportunities after this)

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Allocate cash, cheques, Bacs, and credit card payments to customer accounts.
  • Chase customers for overdue balances, ensuring timely and effective debt recovery.
  • Process credit account applications and perform credit checks using Experian.
  • Prepare and manage the monthly Stop List to assess and control credit availability.
  • Issue monthly statements to customers, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to monitor customer activity and identify potential credit risks.
  • Initiate legal proceedings for bad debt, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Handle customer and internal staff queries promptly and professionally via phone, email, or face-to-face interactions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, fostering trust and loyalty.
  • Provide support to the team by covering other accounts and Purchase Ledger calls when required.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including filing, switchboard cover, and opening post.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience in credit control or a similar role, preferably within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cash allocation, debt recovery processes, and credit management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using financial software and systems, as well as MS Office applications.
