Senior Controls Compliance Manager

A nationally recognised business is seeking a Senior Controls Compliance Manager to join their team in the London area. This is a senior position within the Compliance Team to lead and deliver on all aspects of business controls compliance for both financial and non-financial controls. The position holder will be collaborating with senior managers across the business to drive controls improvement and will have a great involvement in dashboards to monitor success and identify key areas for improvement.

Your Role & Responsibilities

While in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the building of a strong centre of excellence for internal controls, including delivering best practice control training, developing guidance on operating effective controls and designing templates for control processes
  • Creating governance processes for the end-to-end lifecycle of internal controls to include testing and remediation and process change
  • Delivering testing programmes for business controls, including creating the methodology, test templates and testing guidance
  • Mentoring and leading testing teams and reviewing test outputs to make sure that testing is of the right standard
  • Providing assurance for the defence compliance model for Finance Leadership for the design of internal business controls
  • Maximising automation for controls compliance processes and improving control framework design through the identification of standardisation and the simplification of controls
  • Ensuring control design meets best practice standards and that principals and documentation is embedded in change programmes
  • Creating controls dashboards to monitor effectiveness and create reports for key stakeholders in order to drive continuous improvement

What you will need to Apply:

To be considered for this position, applicants must be qualified accountants (either ACCA, ACA or CIMA), ideally from within a 'Big 4' practice, and have at least 5 years of post-qualified experience, specifically from working with a large corporate business. US SOX compliance experience is required as well as exposure to driving controls remediation programmes. Experience in controls monitoring including Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, and also delivering end-to-end controls testing, remediation and reporting is also expected. Knowledge of Controls Risk Management and Internal Controls best practices, principles and procedures is a must. An understanding of external audit approaches and reporting practices is beneficial. Excellent communication skills, including stakeholder management are needed too.

What you will get in Return:

For the successful candidate a starting salary of up to £90,000 is on offer, depending on experience relating to the role as stated above, and this will accompany a fantastic peripheral package including a strong pension offering, additional work perks and incentives and hybrid working of 2/3 days in the office.
