Operations Manager

A pioneering biotechnology company specialising in vaccine discovery are looking for a proactive and highly autonomous Operations Manager.

Reporting initially into the Director of Operations, this is a dynamic, hands-on role requiring an operational all-rounder with a strong grasp HR functions.

Operations & Administration

  • Lead daily operations and general administration in a growing biotech startup environment
  • Ensure a smooth and welcoming office experience: supplies, equipment, meeting coordination, visitor management
  • Manage vendor relationships and support cross-functional teams in executing operational projects
  • Maintain the office as a safe, functional and productive environment

Human Resources

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries and processes
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding, including leave tracking, entitlements, and benefits administration
  • Ensure HR practices align with current employment law and internal policies
  • Collaborate with leadership on employee engagement and cultural initiatives

Finance & Accounting

  • Oversee financial processes including invoicing, expense reimbursements, payroll coordination and budget tracking
  • Partner with external accountants to manage timely pay runs and reporting
  • Support internal finance operations, working closely with the CPO and other senior leaders

Facilities, IT & Asset Management

  • Maintain asset registers and manage IT equipment (check in/check out)
  • Coordinate with the VP of Engineering and external vendors for IT/facilities needs
  • Liaise with building management and ensure office compliance

Health & Safety

  • Serve as the H&S representative for the office
  • Support and maintain compliance with health and safety protocols, in collaboration with the CEO

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an operations role with HR, finance and admin responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR policies
  • Experience working independently and juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Confidence working cross-functionally with C-level executives and department leads
  • Previous exposure to biotech/life sciences/startups is a bonus
