Overview:
The IT Security Engineer Apprentice role presents an exciting opportunity to grow and contribute within our dynamic Information Technology team at NGS. You will report directly to our Chief Information Security Officer and be an internal point of contact for security and protecting the organisation from cyber-attacks. You will work closely with internal teams as well as third-party support partners to monitor systems and evaluate threats as they arise.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in troubleshooting on-site or remote technical issues
- Assist in maintaining and monitoring Tech team communication channels, making sure requests for assistance are acknowledged, recorded, and dealt with in a timely manner
- Gain proficiency in managing and maintaining various IT systems and platforms
- Provide front-line IT support to employees
- Assist in managing the onsite corporate network hardware and infrastructure
- Assist in creating, implementing, and maintaining corporate IT policies and procedures
- Understand technology lifecycle planning, assisting in maintaining a reliable and secure corporate IT network
- Develop strong corporate relationships to assess colleagues' and stakeholders' technology support and security needs
- Assist in implementing security measures to protect the organization's IT infrastructure and data
Required skills:
- Eager to learn and advance professionally and technically in a fast-paced IT environment
- Desire to learn and administer Microsoft products (Office 365, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint)
- Ability to learn how to maintain and administer hosted cloud solutions (AWS)
- Desire to understand networking hardware and principles, including Wi-Fi (Juniper MIST)
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and environments
- Good communication skills at all levels, including with senior management
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Focus on providing excellent support to end-users
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:
41.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, shifts to cover 8am – 6pm
