Quality Engineer

We are delighted to be working with a truly global leader in the pursuit of their new Quality Engineer. Working as a Quality Engineer, you will be working alongside a highly experienced team who specialise in a very niche sector – Gas.

Duties as a Quality Engineer will include but not limited to:

  • To attend customers' sites in the UK and overseas to undertake inspections and instrument validations/calibration on gas chromatographs or other instrumentation.
  • Familiarisation with all technical methods appropriate to their role in EffecTech and ensuring that the work they perform is in accordance with these approved methods and procedures.
  • Carry out performance evaluations in accordance with the international standard ISO 10723:2012
  • Carry out inspections of gas quality measurement systems in accordance with ISO 17020
  • Transfer/preparation of reference gases from parents to smaller containers to be used at site.
  • Scheduling their work and visit programme in consultation with the Senior Gas Quality Engineer – Planning and Operations Manager including liaising with clients and booking hotels and travel.
  • Producing inspection reports and calibration reports and taking responsibility for their content
  • Producing and peer-reviewing calibration certificates and peer-reviewing reports (if holding approved signatory status)
  • Monitoring and reviewing the availability of suitable reference gases at our laboratory facilities.
  • Arranging (where appropriate) for the transportable of gas cylinders to and from clients outside of mainland UK through liaison with the Logistics Department and Senior Gas Quality Engineer – Operations
  • Continually maintain operational skills with and contribute to in house software routines to access and gather instrument performance data.
  • Maintaining site method statements and preparing risk assessments and HSE statements in order to obtain individual site permit to work and adhering to the client's site procedures.
  • Keeping records of all information of practical relevance to the performance evaluations/validations/calibrations/tests they perform and in accordance with the quality system and technical methods therein.
  • Obtaining and keeping up to date competent person training for site access in accordance with the training requirements matrix (R007)
  • Assisting quality management with the continual development and improvement of the quality system.
  • Assisting in the development of environment, health and safety procedures including ADR/CDG transport regulations, cylinder storage & movement associated with the site services department.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in Quality Engineering, ideally from a Gases industry, or recently graduated in a Quality / Manufacturing Discipline.
  • A keen eye for detail and passion for engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Hours of work will be standard days; however, flexibility will be required.
