About the role
Are you a newly qualified junior chef with an interest in product development?
We have an exciting opportunity within our Quality Assurance department for a Junior Product Development Chef / Product Assessor in our development kitchen for our Food own brand product range.
This role, based at our Booker Northampton site, will be on a fixed term contract basis, for six months with a possibility to extend.
Due to the nature of responsibilities, this role will be based full time on site and hybrid working is not possible
Role Responsibility
Implementing a range of food development and product assessment activities which will include:
- Provide support in the development of new products
- Routine sample and benchmark shopping for meetings and presentations,
- Develop good relationships with internal key stakeholders through effective communication and working collaboratively,
- Presentation of products at internal taste panels,
- Routine assessment of products against agreed specifications and standards. Communication of findings to all relevant parties,
- Maintain the required levels of health and safety, cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen environment. Flag any issues with equipment for timely maintenance or repairs to be undertaken.
- Ad-hoc administration to support the wider Technical team
You will need
- Newly qualified junior chef, preferred
- Experience of working in a commercial kitchen environment, preferred
- Previous experience of product development, preferred
- Interest in product development
- Interest in ongoing food trends
- Attention to detail, particularly in food safety and operational standards
- Collaborative, team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills (MS Office)
