Claims Administration Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Claims Administration Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for providing administrative support in the handling of insurance claims within the Internal Audit, Corporate Governance and Insurance section of Financial Services. The successful candidate will manage data entry, process insurance claims, and support the Claims Team.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Enter and record complete and accurate data related to claims on the council's claims database system.
  • Process insurance claims in a timely manner, adhering to practice directions and corporate guidelines.
  • Register claims with external agencies, including the DWP Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU).
  • Liaise with the Claims Team, Claims Litigation section, and other parties on claims-related issues as required.
  • Respond to queries from officers, external organisations, and the public, providing supporting data when necessary.
  • Handle telephone enquiries, respond to voicemails, and raise accurate and timely payments within their Financial Management System (FMS).
  • Report regularly to the Deputy Insurance Manager with progress reports and significant issues.
  • Work in a hybrid environment with an agreed split between office work at Leeds Civic Hall and remote work from home.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and objectives in line with corporate and legal priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of redaction techniques for information disclosure.
  • Experience with administrative tasks within a financial ledger system.
  • Experience in setting priorities and meeting targets in a fast-paced environment, preferably within an insurance and claims setting.
  • Team player with a commitment to meeting agreed objectives and key targets.
