Junior Underwriting Portfolio Analyst

The purpose of this role is to support the Portfolio Management team with monitoring and managing the underwriting performance of our portfolio of Consumer Lines insurance accounts.

Working within a team of analysts located in the London office, the role involves mainly working with the European portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor the underwriting performance with the aim of protecting the profitability of the portfolio.
  • Production of weekly reports using various tools such as excel, data coding languages and online portals. There is no requirement to be proficient in any of the forementioned tools and training will be provided.
  • Support data requests that come from various teams for data and insights into performance of current schemes.
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly account reviews with clients including the preparation of materials.
  • Genius premium bookings on monthly basis and run reports to check premium allocation across EMEA.
  • Run weekly check reports liaising with analysts within team when variances occur.
  • Maintain and monitor MI and BDX production and coordinate any variances with analysts within team.
  • Assume responsibility for data integrity and thorough file documentation.
  • Co-ordinate and build collaborative relationships within the business unit to enable the business to effectively manage the performance of the clients across the region.
  • Enhance data usage and MI availability to support the decision-making process and drive sustainable portfolios' growth.
  • Support Analysts in the creation plans and forecasts, closely working with finance team to ensure premium is monitored and production variances understood.
  • Provide analytical support to help improve the business' understanding of performance, including the use of SAS, Dataiku and Power BI. There is no requirement to be proficient in any of the forementioned tools and training will be provided.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree qualified preferably in numerical or science subjects or relevant industry experience in a similar role.
  • Desire to learn Excel and programming languages such as Dataiku as well as Power BI exposure.
  • Enthusiastic individual with high attention to detail.
