Job Description

As a Transport Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the transport

department. This role requires an individual with significant experience in transport management

and a CPC. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all transport regulations, optimise

fleet performance, and lead a team to deliver exceptional service standards.

Key responsibilities:

Operational Management

- Oversee the daily operations of the transport department, ensuring efficient and effective

service delivery

  • Develop and implement operational policies to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Coordinate and manage the scheduling and dispatch of the fleet along with the transport

team.

Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations, including health and safety,

environmental policies, and legal requirements.

- Maintain up to date knowledge of transport legislation and ensure the companies operations

adhere to all legal standards.

Fleet Management

- Monitor and optimise the performance of the fleet, ensuring vehicles are well maintained

and service schedules are adhered to.

- Implement cost- effective strategies for fleet utilisation and fuel management.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of drivers and office staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and support the professional development

of the department.

- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.

Customer Service

- Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained, addressing any issues or

complaints promptly and effectively.

- Work closely with customers to build and maintain business relationships.

Financial Management

  • Manage the transport budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency
  • Monito and report on key performance indicators in weekly operations meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in transport management
  • Holder of a CPC in road haulage
  • Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
