Exceptional Opportunity: To Support a Pupil with ASC in a Year 1 class at a 2-Form Entry Primary School in Haringey.

  • SANZA Teaching Agency is delighted to present a unique and rewarding role for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic 2-form entry primary school near Tottenham. This position involves supporting a pupil in KS1 with Autism Spectrum Condition who is pre-verbal.

Position:

  • Support Assistant for Pupil with ASC. You will play a crucial role in providing one-on-one support in KS1. Your role will be to facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities, promote social interaction, and support their individual learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual support to the pupil with ASC, ensuring their safety and well-being. Help implement and follow the child's Individual Education Plan and behaviour management strategies. Facilitate the child's communication and language development through alternative communication methods. Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to plan and adapt activities to meet the pupil's specific needs. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, promoting their social integration with peers. Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, providing regular feedback on the child's progress.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition or similar special educational needs. Understanding of pre-verbal communication methods and strategies. Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the ability to adapt them to meet individual needs. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
