Our client is seeking a Reporting Accountant to join their team in Birmingham. This role involves identifying issues, needs, and opportunities for improvement, supporting changes, and acting as a liaison between various business areas to ensure smooth transitions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and a background in the manufacturing/distribution sector.
Your responsibilities as the Reporting Accountant will include:
- Prepare monthly reports from the trial balance (Income Statement, Balance Sheet)
- Analyse order intake trends
- Conduct sales and margin analysis
- Perform variance analysis (Sales, Expenses, vs. Prior Year, Budget) and discuss with cost centre holders
- Analyse stock (Obsolete, WIP)
- Provide month-end stock reports to Finance, including stock adjustment analysis per Group and Statutory guidelines
- Support and cover for the Finance Manager and Assistant Accountant as needed
- Assist with external audits (Financial, Quality, Customer)
- Help managers and employees retrieve and understand available information and provide additional requested details
- Continuously cleanse data
- Support business forecasting and budget variance analysis
- Identify and investigate areas for improving profitability
The successful Reporting Accountant will require the following skills and experience:
- Experience with variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations is required
- Proficiency in MS Excel is essential for analysis tasks
- Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment is necessary
- A higher education qualification in Business or Accounting is preferred
- SAP knowledge is a plus
