Job Title: Caseworker Assistant

Location: Fareham, hybrid working (home and office)

Contract Type: Temporary 6 month contract. 37 hours a week Mon - Fri for 6 weeks training followed by 30 hours a week onwards

Salary: £13.28 per hour

About the Role

As a Case Worker, you'll be part of a supportive and friendly team working with other social/health care professionals to assess individuals' needs with a person-centred approach, focusing on the elements of care, support and treatment that matter most to the person, their families and carers. Using strengths-based practice, you'll focus on what a person can do, whilst finding innovative, alternative community resources to meet their needs. A strengths-based approach works with people's strengths, resourcefulness and ability to develop the best strategies for them to face life's challenges.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

  • Handling incoming enquiries through a variety of contact channels.
  • Supporting individuals to maintain their independence.
  • Providing support in the assessment of an individual's risk and identifying options that will mitigate risk.
  • Completing assessments and reviews in a way that promotes a person's well-being and maximises their independence.
  • Recognising when a case and/or a situation develops an increased level of risk and know how to respond and when to seek advice and support.
  • Responding to concerns and complaints and following the correct escalation routes.
  • Knowing how to identify and respond to potential safeguarding situations and understanding how to report them.
  • Enabling individuals to find the information they need, for themselves.
  • Managing your workload effectively and prioritising appropriately.
  • Providing information and advice to local community networks to support local empowerment and well-being, and maximise independence.
  • Adhering to protocols when sharing information with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with multi-disciplinary
  • Preparing and participating in supervision, i.e. regular 1:1 meetings with a senior
  • Supporting colleagues in achieving the operational priorities for the team.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Able to analyse and interpret information.
  • Able to recognise problems and identify creative solutions.
  • Able to calculate costs of services and care plans and record financial information.
  • Sound IT skills (e.g. Outlook, Word). Able and willing to develop the skills required for using new systems and technology.
  • Effective negotiation skills for dealing with providers, other professionals, family and carers.
  • Effective relationship management skills for collaborating with the people who use our service, providers, other professionals, family and carers.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Is committed to demonstrating the organisation's values and behaviours in your work.
  • Works well independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity in order to build and maintain trust.
