Warehouse Manager Contract

Our clientis a market leading, family run wholesaler and manufacturer, supplying specialist retailers, contractors and interior designers with window furnishing products, both off the shelf and made to measure. Their business has grown year on year, and have a passion to continue growing the business and re-invest profits into refreshing their product range and improving infrastructure. Due to a restructure in their manufacturing and production team they are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager on an interim basis.

Your new role as a Warehouse Manager...

  • Managing the flow of products throughout the warehouse; From Goods In to Goods Out
  • Ensure all orders picked, packed, loaded and despatched daily
  • Labour planning to ensure service levels are maintained (absence management)
  • Coaching and supporting Assistant Managers and Team Leaders
  • Responsibility for all aspects of H&S within the warehouse and general maintenance

More specifically

  • Team building and performance management of key staff;

set objectives, organise training, coaching and feedback on performance of immediate team

  • Forward Planning;

Forecasting Activity levels for each area and allocating resources, ensuring critical equipment such as FLT's are serviced and maintained

  • Continuous improvements;

pick rates, identifying costs and targeting where reductions can be made, housekeeping in each part of the warehouse, ongoing staff training, improving efficiency

About you as a Warehouse Manager...

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as Warehouse Manager and/or Despatch Operations Manager in a multi-site operation
  • Experience in Labour planning
  • Ability to performance coach and motivate a team of 30 including assistant managers and Team Leaders
  • Knowledge of critical warehouse processes and experienced in handling large volumes of products; pick and pack operations for shipping same day
  • Understanding of logistics; Storage, handling and movement of products
  • Competent at budgeting and forecasting with excel skills and commercial acumen
  • Be highly organised and an excellent communicator
  • Dynamic and self-motivated
  • Assertive but approachable, able to challenge staff with intent on positive outcome
  • Perform under pressure
  • Right balance; hands on but with strategic outlook for future developments
