Senior Business Development Manager, Commercial Litigation (12 Month FTC) - International Law Firm

Posted by Leighton Taylor Consulting.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a proactive and enthusiastic Senior Business Development Manager to join an ambitious international law firm, with a clear strategy for profitable growth and a friendly, down to earth and approachable culture, on a 12 month fixed term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave.

This is a highly attractive role in a firm in which you will enjoy early responsibility and early involvement in a growing business. You will be able to take ownership of your career and can expect a competitive and fair reward as well as recognition based on all round performance. The firm's well regarded BD team is responsible for practice group BD, client development, including events, brand and online marketing, and communications and PR. With line manager responsibility for a BD Manager and a Senior Executive, you will be focusing on the provision of strategic business development support to the Commercial Litigation practice group, which is the largest in the firm. The role holder will be working as a key part of the Commercial Litigation BD team, helping them to grow revenue and their profile in the market, and will be the primary point of contact for a number of specialist teams within Commercial Litigation, building relationships with key stakeholders and leading on strategic projects. You will be expected to develop an understanding of the different practice group offerings within the firm, and look at ways to cross sell the work of Commercial Litigation into other areas. The successful applicant will work closely with practice area leaders to draft business plans, taking the lead on delivering on the BD aspects of the plans, and also work with partners to define how they can differentiate their practices in the market, developing key selling messages for the partners and groups as a whole. Acting as an account manager for key clients, you will develop and help execute client relationship plans, including carrying out feedback to ensure continuous improvement, and will manage key tender and panel opportunities to tight deadlines. The Senior Business Development Manager will also be involved in broad marketing activities including the review of Legal 500 and Chambers submissions, supporting the production and delivery of outstanding client events and liaising with the communications team on the media plan for each practice group.

Confident, resilient and pragmatic, the ideal candidate will be a committed team player with proven experience of building a collaborative work environment in a legal or other professional services firm and will be able to demonstrate past success in providing strategic advice and influencing senior stakeholders whilst at the same time being willing to get on with regular BD tasks. A skilled written communicator with a good eye for detail, the Senior Business Development Manager will be commercially aware, knowledgeable and highly organised and will enjoy driving initiatives and projects forward. Previous line management and Commercial Litigation experience will also be highly advantageous.
