Project Manager - Housing and Homelessness Support

We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Project Manager to join the team.

Location: Southwest based Local Authority

Set-up: Hybrid

Rate: £500/day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: Initial 6-month contract

Hours: Full-time position

Purpose of the job

This project seeks to understand the various entry routes for young people requiring housing and homelessness support, opportunities to offer preventative services to better manage demand, and to future model the demand and flow in order to develop sufficiency of provision which provides both quality and value for money.

Expected outcomes of the project:

  • Manage the successful delivery of the project on time, to budget and to the right quality through appropriate use of the Authorities' standard project management methodology
  • Report the progress to the Project Board and ultimately bringing the project to a controlled close
  • Clear move-on processes and prioritisation protocol for 18+ care leavers
  • Demand mapping that supports commissioning for different cohorts at optimum level
  • Reduction in accommodation cost pressures through ad hoc spot purchase arrangements
  • Increase in preventative work with young people at risk of homelessness, reducing children in care population and care leaver population
  • Clearer, evidenced adherence to legislation for young people presenting homeless
  • Business intelligence fully developed in relation to all our work with children and young people affected by insecure housing
  • Provide leadership to the project team, ensuring colleagues are both supported and encouraged through one-to-one discussion and project team meetings

Requirements:

  • PRINCE 2 qualified or another professional project management qualification with detailed knowledge of the practical application of PRINCE2/MSP methodologies
  • Experience in a Project Manager (or equivalent) role with detailed knowledge of principles, methods, techniques & tools associated with the project lifecycle and how to apply them to best effect and measurable benefit
  • Demonstrable skills in the application of effective tools and techniques to plan, sequence and dependency manage
  • Evidence of success in building and managing effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of authority; building and managing effective project teams
  • Evidence of effective risk and issue management within a programme/project context
