Construction Senior Associate

My client, a highly ranked Legal 200 firm in the Southwest, seeks a motivated and approachable lawyer to join their welcoming team in Bristol. This is a great opportunity to be part of a leading UK law firm, working on diverse, high-quality projects.

Despite having just over 500 employees and offices in major cities like Bristol and London, the firm boasts a close-knit and friendly culture. It emphasises integrity and authenticity, fostering genuine interactions within the team and with clients. New members will find a collaborative environment that values humility and sincerity, often described as a "family" culture.

The firm is well-regarded not only for excellence but also for its genuinely kind individuals. This unique combination creates a work environment focused on honesty, teamwork, and warmth, ensuring each day is fulfilling and enjoyable.

The role

  • The Bristol team includes 2 construction partners, 2 senior associates, 2 solicitors, a trainee, and a paralegal.
  • They seek a construction lawyer with 2+ years of experience to join their supportive, busy environment.
  • The ideal candidate should possess a mixed skill set in both contentious and non-contentious areas and be interested in diverse, high-quality work across sectors such as waste, infrastructure, higher education, health, and commercial property development.
  • Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and advising on standard and bespoke construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, IChemE, IET, and ACA.
  • Despite its size, the team is highly effective, assisting clients throughout the construction process in both private and public sectors, including property developers, funders, investors, contractors, and consultants.
  • The work ranges from advising on minor issues to managing entire contract matrices for new commercial property developments, ensuring varied tasks.
  • The role is sociable and interactive, reflecting the connection between construction law, commercial property transactions, and broader projects within the firm.
  • The candidate should enjoy teamwork, collaborating with colleagues across offices to provide clients with the firm's renowned seamless "one-stop-shop" service.

Where?

  • The firm values its unique culture and emphasises social interaction among team members.
  • Employees balance diligent work with fun and camaraderie.
  • Recent experiences have shown remote work is effective; the firm is now implementing a hybrid model that combines office and home working.
  • While experience and enthusiasm are essential, the firm prefers candidates to work part of the week from the Bristol office.
  • This allows individuals to experience the firm's warm culture firsthand, which cannot be fully conveyed through advertisements.
  • The firm is open to discussing specific hybrid working requirements on a case-by-case basis.

Why?

  • The workplace is recognised for its friendly and welcoming culture, emphasising teamwork and collaboration.
  • Employees experience a professional yet relaxed atmosphere, free from pigeon-holing or glass ceilings, allowing them to truly be themselves.
  • The organisation offers an exciting array of benefits and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity.
  • There is a strong commitment to creating an environment where everyone, regardless of their background, can achieve their full potential.
