Test and Product Engineer!
Looking for a Test & Production Engineer with practical hands-on experience!
Someone who knows how to build things up who can build prototypes with knowledge of quality systems. Mechanical and electrical knowledge is good, but electronics knowledge is preferred. Knowing circuit boards and PCB design is vital. We want someone with the ability to think at a higher level, be proactive and take the initiative.
Testing and inspection will be part of the role. You need to know the design correct procedures and for example what happens if a test fails, can you assess what is wrong with it? We are looking for someone who can set up a clean environment and adopt the correct PPE procedures. Can you build and test 50 prototypes?
Can you determine whether fidelity has been achieved? For clinical investigation units. Have you dealt with outsourced design and manufacturing? Can you clearly articulate the test requirements? You need to be able take the initiative and do some problem solving. A technical background is important to have. The ability to solder is needed. To have worked within a framework before is important. You'll need to be someone with the flexibility to be outside your comfort zone and take on additional tasks.
It is important that you understand the design and how to build PCB's as well as schematic capture of electronics. Additionally, some experience of Python, C, C#, C++, or Java is desirable. Someone who has dealt with embedded systems would be good.
Having some basic lab equipment hands-on skills will be required as you'll be working with multimeters and oscilloscopes. You will need tobe able build a jig and prototypes, and write script. Knowledge of electronic production is vital as you'll need to pick up the phone and have the confidence to sort out problems with suppliers and subcontractors. The company work with plastic injection moulding subcontractors.
You will be mainly working on new products. You will be reporting into the Principal Engineer. They offer training opportunities in design and regulatory. For example, a task you may be given is a specification from a standard writer test, to see how good you are at writing a specification and to see your understanding, i.e. is the equipment calibrated?
You will need to be based nearby Nottingham as they will be required to get into an office in Nottingham a couple of times per week. It is hybrid work; they are happy for employees to work from home but testing needs to be done in the office.
It will be a video interview first to assess your suitability and knowledge and then a second stage interview in-person with the Principal Engineer and one other which could be one of the other engineers that make up the 3-person engineering team. Ultimately, you need to have an interest in electronics and software's.
You need to hold UK citizenship or settled status, as the company will not offer sponsorship for a working Visa.
