REED Procurement are partnered with a global manufacturing company based in Port Talbot who have a brand-new Buyer vacancy in their Procurement team. You will be working within an international supply chain and sourcing material from the UK, Europe and America. This is an exciting time to join the company in a growing procurement department with a diversifying product range. You will have the autonomy and responsibility of running a full procurement lifecycle process from quotation through to material delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct material sourcing activities to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Identify and source new suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Negotiate costs and delivery terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
- Implement cost savings initiatives to reduce procurement costs.
- Work closely with other departments such as Engineering to ensure that procurement activities are aligned with business objectives.
- Represent the Procurement team in inter-departmental meetings with other teams and senior stakeholders.
Desirable Experience:
- To either have full CIPS qualifications, or working towards completion or equivalent qualification/diploma.
- 3+ years' worth of experience working in an autonomous procurement role within a global supply chain – Manufacturing.
- Use of SAP system would be advantageous but not essential.
