SEN Teaching Assistant

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a specialist SEND school in Northwich that supports pupils from EYFS - KS4 as they are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a full-time long-term contract. This is an SEND school that supports complex SEN such as ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders), cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, and non-verbal.

Your new role
In your new role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with complex SEN on a 1:1 basis within small classroom settings (up to 10 pupils). You will work alongside your new colleagues to ensure that each pupil's EHCP is met in a safe and stimulating learning environment. You will take a pupil-centred approach to learning, adapting your style and learning material dependent on your pupils' academic needs. Typically, you will offer phonics sessions, social and emotional development, interventions, boosters, and sensory development. You will also use a myriad of positive behaviour techniques to manage pupils' behaviours/triggers and take the pupils out of the class as required to burn off steam.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting young people with SEN, as well as:

  • Experience using behaviour management techniques
  • Experience supporting ASD
  • Be willing to commit to a long-term full-time contract
