As an agency, we're delighted to share that Sheffield City Council has successfully secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for the implementation of employment support projects. These projects are designed to provide much-needed assistance to targeted groups, individuals with unique health requirements, and those who are economically inactive or socially excluded.

We're currently on the lookout for a dynamic individual to fill the role of Senior Project Officer - Business Development within the Opportunity Sheffield team. This team is an integral part of Sheffield City Council's Employment and Skills service. The individual in this role will be responsible for spearheading business development within the service. This includes creating opportunities for employment, apprenticeships, and industry placements, as well as nurturing existing relationships with employers connected to the Opportunity Sheffield Employment and Skills Service.

The Senior Project Officer will report directly to the Strategic Support Coordinator. We're seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, and forward-thinking. The successful candidate will be expected to support and manage the delivery of a UKSPF-funded programme focused on employment, economic inclusion, and skills development.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A deep understanding of externally funded programmes.
  • Experience in managing business relationships.
  • A proven track record of establishing impactful relationships with employers/businesses.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Keeping abreast of local labour market news.
  • Identifying and generating new opportunities for employment, apprenticeships, and placements on a weekly basis.
  • Maintaining relationships with employers and providing necessary support.
  • Attending regular networking events for employers and external partners and establishing meaningful relationships with business leads to support the Employment & Skills Service offer.
  • Having a thorough understanding of the programme and effectively supporting staff in achieving targets.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of employment projects and providing updates to senior colleagues.
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to build relationships.
  • Efficiently planning and organising their own workload.
  • Monitoring service delivery to ensure resources are used efficiently.
  • Working with the Strategic Support Coordinator to find innovative ways to meet or respond to employers' needs, whether it's workforce development or recruitment.
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities within the Opportunity Sheffield service, initiating solutions, and providing advice and support.
  • Taking responsibility for the development of systems and processes across the Employment Programmes and keeping the Employment and Skills service informed of progress through reports and presentations.

The role offers a salary of £14.79 per hour and is available until 31st March 2025. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility of working both remotely and on-site. We're excited to welcome a new member to our team who will contribute to our mission of supporting employment and skills development in Sheffield.
