Job Description:

This is an exciting role within Royalty and Specialist Protection (RaSP) which will help shape the new performance framework for the Command. This role will involve working across all areas of the business with SLT leads and team leaders to craft meaningful performance indicators.

The role holder will create data visualisations which will allow supervisors to understand their team's performance at a glance, and provide written reports to Senior Leaders, presenting key themes and trends. Whilst strand leads will own performance, the role holder will provide support through the provision of regular structures (meetings, data products and reports) and in depth data analysis that enables enhanced understanding of what good performance looks like and how it is sustained. The role will sit within RaSP HQ working directly to the SLT Performance Lead.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • The role involves processing and analysing large data sets, identifying key trends, and presenting data in an accessible format. Experience with Excel is essential, while knowledge of Tableau and Power BI is desirable.
  • Work with portfolio leads on developing a new RaSP performance framework to create meaningful indicators of good performance.
  • Play a leading role in the Monthly and Quarterly Performance Reviews which will involve presenting analytical findings to identify trends, forecast future implications and highlight areas of good or poor performance to Senior Leaders. Key responsibilities will also include meeting planning, document collation, action recording and circulation.
  • Interpret a wide range of information in a creative and meaningful way in order to continuously improve the performance framework, adapting products created as priorities change.
  • Lead on the publishing of the monthly Performance Pack using IT packages, particularly Excel and Tableau. Specific tasks include cleaning data, merging data sources, using formulas to manipulate data and use of Tableau to create data visualisation products suitable for the audience.
  • Manage performance enquiries from Inspector level and above. Be able to explain complex data sets in a way which is accessible to all roles and ranks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal MPS stakeholders in order to develop and sustain appropriate processes for the receipt, storage and organisation of information.
  • Review data regularly to ensure that information received from various sources is consistent and accurate, ensuring data held complies with GDPR obligations.
  • Provide support to wider HQ teams where required. For example in support of RaSP events in the UK.
  • Lead on relevant aspects of the RASP People Strategy to improve and enhance culture, working environment and inclusivity.
  • Lead on the analysis of the twice yearly staff survey, reviewing engagement, demographic data and highlighting key trends from free text comments. Present findings to the SLT and Inclusion, Diversity & Equality team, raising themes and suggesting recommendations in order to keep the RaSP People Strategy current and fit for purpose.

Essential

  • Experience in data analysis, strong Excel skills, and the ability to communicate data effectively to senior leaders. SC vetting is required.
  • Previous experience using Power BI and Tableau is desirable but not essential.
  • Advance excel skills is essential. Proficiency in Excel, including the use of formulas for data analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Presenting data in a way that is accessible to different audiences.
  • Identifying data trends.
  • Identifying anomalies in data sets.
  • Ensuring accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
  • Maintaining high standards of data integrity and quality.
