Electrical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the Facilities Management team at the University of Surrey. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the university's electrical systems, ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the campus infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control panels across the university's campus.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and recommend improvements or replacements of equipment.
  • Respond to reactive repairs such as lights and sockets
  • Ensure that all electrical work complies with health and safety regulations and university standards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance engineers and departments to ensure smooth operation of building services.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay up-to-date with the latest electrical technologies and practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, maintenance work, and repairs carried out.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, minimizing downtime and ensuring a safe environment for students and staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or similar qualification.
  • Previous experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial or industrial setting.
  • diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits:

  • Salary of up to £41,000
  • 36 hour working week (8am - 4pm - Monday to Friday)
