Salt Recruitment is partnering with a key Local Government client to find an experienced Senior Network Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your technical expertise in Cisco and Palo Alto technologies to a large, diverse Local Government organisation, where you will be instrumental in ensuring a robust and secure network infrastructure.

**About the Role

Working with our Local Government client, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organisation's network infrastructure. This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of Cisco networking solutions, Palo Alto firewalls, and security protocols. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will provide top-level support, ensuring network performance, security, and availability, while working closely with internal teams and external service providers.

**Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the client's network infrastructure, including Cisco Wireless, Cisco DNA, Cisco ISE, Infoblox, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Implement and administer Cisco Routers, Switches, and Wireless solutions within the client's environment.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex network problems using industry-standard network monitoring tools.
  • Ensure network security by managing firewalls, VPNs, and adhering to security best practices to protect the client's data and systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external service providers, and specialists to meet operational and project-related targets.
  • Work within a structured cabling environment, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Meet customer satisfaction goals by delivering timely and effective network support.

**Essential Skills & Experience

  • Certifications: Minimum Cisco CCNA or Palo Alto PCNSA certification.
  • Operational Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Cisco Wireless, Cisco DNA, Cisco ISE, Infoblox, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, LAN, WAN, WLAN architectures, and structured cabling.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify and resolve network issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Security Focus: Solid understanding of network security principles, firewall management, and VPN solutions.
  • Communication & Organisation: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage time and tasks effectively, while working closely with stakeholders.

**Desirable

  • Experience working in a Local Government or large public sector organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders with varying IT skill levels.
  • Familiarity with public sector service delivery and regulatory environments.
