Assistant Warehouse Operations Manager (interim)

This is an interim opportunity to join a leading NW based catering consumables company as they finalise the set up of a new Distribution centre.

My client is a leading catering equipment supplier based in Stockport, Cheshire. We need an experienced Interim Assistant Operations Manager to support our successful Warehouse Management Team in Stockport who are currently preparing move to a larger Distribution Centre in Cheadle. This role requires you to work closely with our skilled team, maintain smooth operations, and help with the relocation process.

About the Role: Your role will be crucial in ensuring a seamless move by working alongside our experienced team and keeping operations running smoothly.

Your Goal: Ensure efficient warehouse operations by supporting and stepping in to cover for our Warehouse Management Team when required and carrying out supportive actions to help prepare the team to transition to the new site.

What You'll Do:

  •  Team Leadership: Step in as needed to support and guide teams across various warehouse sections, filling in for supervisors to maintain smooth operations.
  •  Operational Support: Act as an assistant to the Operations Manager, helping with ongoing activities and the relocation process.
  •  Health & Safety (H&S): Work to implement pragmatic safety recommendations, update risk assessments, and develop safe working practices.
  •  Relocation Support: Assist with layout changes, equipment placement, and communication with construction teams. Help with staff updates and prepare training and H&S induction for the new site.
  •  Site Readiness: Be proactive, ensure a wide range of activities are complete ahead of the move, this could include anything from coordinating decoration, lighting, and racking/shelving setup, to ensure a smooth transition.

What We're Looking For:

  •  Extensive experience in warehouse leadership.
  •  Valid driving license and forklift truck certification.
  •  Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  •  Detail-oriented with problem-solving abilities.
  •  Experience with warehousing software and health and safety regulations.
  •  Good communication and interpersonal skills.
