About the Role:

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with students aged 16 and over in a college setting. This role is focused on helping students develop essential life skills and providing the support they need to achieve their full potential.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual students who require additional support due to their special educational needs. You will play a crucial role in their educational journey, helping them navigate daily challenges and empowering them to gain independence. This is a full-time position through Career Teachers Agency, offering the opportunity to make a lasting difference in students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with special educational needs, tailored to their individual learning plans.
  • Assist students in developing life skills such as communication, social interaction, and daily living tasks.
  • Support students in the classroom, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and are fully engaged in their learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, adapting support strategies as needed.
  • Encourage students to build confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly those aged 16 and over.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport with students and support their emotional well-being.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, able to respond to the unique needs of each student.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the educational environment.
