FINANCE OFFICER – BELFAST

SALARY: £22,126.00- £26,936.00 per annum

EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 1 year Fixed-Term Contract

My client is an excellent charity and social enterprise in Belfast currently seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join their team.

The successful Finance Officer will support in the maintenance of records including invoicing, journaling, account management, working with the team to ensure completion of all month end tasks including account and balance sheet reconciliations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monthly invoicing in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of accounts on system.
  • Allocations of receipts / payments to correct accounts
  • Managing queries within the department from both internal and external customers and clients.
  • Completion of the monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations.
  • Journal preparation and input to the financial systems.
  • Assisting the Senior Finance Officer with credit control across the organisation.
  • Assisting with preparation of departmental monthly reports.
  • Assisting in the updating and implementing new policies, procedures, and processes, as required.
  • Assisting the Senior Finance Officer with returns to external bodies.
  • Liaising with auditors and other professionals as necessary.
  • Support the financial accounting team through the accurate identification of income / expenditure items, providing nominal ledger coding, and providing updates as necessary to staff across the organisation.
  • Provide support and guidance to Finance / Accounts Assistants within the department.
  • Support the Senior Finance Officer deputising as necessary.

What you'll need to succeed!

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable as the role may involve working at various locations.
  • Experience of Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level or above.
  • Proven experience of reconciling accounts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise workload to ensure effective and timely outcomes.
  • Ability to use initiative and work with minimum direction.
  • A qualification in a business / accountancy equivalent to Accounting Technician (or above) AND one years' experience working in a Finance function OR Two years' experience working in a finance function.
