121 Teaching Assistant

About: The school is a large, dynamic primary school based in Barnsley. Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work on a 121 basis with a primary age student with SEN. The role is due to start in September 2024 and will be for 5 days a week, 8.30am-3.30pm each day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one / 121 support for a student with SEN.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
- Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
- Support students in developing social skills, self-confidence, and independence.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Maintain accurate records of students' progress and achievements.
- Attend relevant training and professional development sessions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are advantageous.
