We are looking for empathetic and positive people to join the Starfyn Education Family in a long term, full time, SEN Teaching role!

Starfyn Education are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic SEND Class Teacher for one of our clients based in Croydon. The school support students with complex and severe learning difficulties and physical disabilities. They focus on supporting their children and young adults to reach their full potential, through a variety of different methods such as supporting their sensory development, both verbal and non-verbal communication and play therapy.

We are looking for staff who want to assist children with their progression, as to make a highly valued, positive difference to their lives. The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Knowledge of assessment and teaching strategies appropriate to children with Special Educational Needs
  • Knowledge of the current legislative framework within which teachers operate, including the SEN Code of Practice, Curriculum 2000 and the Literacy and Numeracy.
  • The ability to relate to and empathise with children who may have complex and severe learning difficulties.
  • Effective group management skills of children with moderate to severe autism and in some classes challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to plan and teach to meet the individual needs of the children.
  • An ability to empathise with the children and to provide a structure that facilitates emotional and social development.

To be successful in applying for this role you must have a DFE recognised QTS or equivalent.

As an agency worker you are only paid for the days you have worked. Therefore, you will not be paid during the school holidays.
