Associate Director of HR, OD and Communications | Gloucestershire | | £70,000 - £80,000 per annum

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, holding accountability for, and leading on Human Resources Management, Change management, OD, Workforce Development and Communications using strategic, business and operational skills to ensure high performing services that deliver against objectives, targets, performance measures and statutory obligations are met in full.

The successful candidate will be the principal advisor to the Senior Leadership Team and will be required to provide support to the Board ensuring good governance and accountability processes are in place and working effectively to provide assurance to the Board and its committees.

Ensure that appropriate, contemporary HR management systems, policies and processes are in place and working effectively along with Communications process and policies for internal and external communications.

Responsible for the direction and Performance of the HR and Communications resources/functions and HR and Communications services provided under SLA's, ensuring development and implementation of organisational objectives, policy and procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivery and development of high-quality HR and Communication services achieved through the engagement of the workforce, customers and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring effective management of the HR and Communications service on a day-to-day basis ensuring provision of appropriate, effective high quality service delivery in accordance with specific defined service portfolio including the SLA's.
  • Working with the Leadership Team, SMT and Board to develop and sustain an organisational culture that will enable the delivery of exceptional services and to achieve excellence in service delivery.
  • Contributing to the successful delivery of corporate strategic and operational objectives as a member of the SLT and ensure all services deliver appropriate and effective leadership and deliver on all key objectives.
  • Through active engagement be accountable for the design and delivery of strategic and operational HR and Communication services which consider the needs and expectations of service users.
  • Promoting the organisational vision, values and strategic objectives across the organisation and service delivery. Including cultural and wellbeing frameworks.
  • Ensure that HR and Communications support SLT and Service Leads empowering to develop, lead and implement changes in service delivery and improvement in line with the business strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of governance and probity are maintained by ensuring all resources within HR and Comms service delivery work effectively and are managed in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Working with the Finance & Commercial Director and Team to ensure there are robust arrangements in place for budgetary management, cash management and cost service efficiency improvement planning.
  • Ensure that all service development proposals are properly developed in accordance with the Business Case process.
  • Ensure at all times visible leadership which positive positively demonstrates the set values and leadership behaviors.
  • Ensure effective Business continuity and effective major incident plans are in place, communicated out and understood/regularly reviewed.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the Business plan, as is relates to the defined areas of service responsibility so that the organisation delivers a high performing and income generating service portfolio.
  • Effective development and management of the operational teams to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Responsible for the identification and development of strategic and operational relationships external to the organisation as necessary in support of business objectives.

Skills, experience:

  • CIPD Qualified
  • Proven experience of HR, OD and Workforce planning.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience of influencing and managing change to complex services.
  • Ability to think and operate strategically with the ability to translate into practical delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading HR and Comms services in the healthcare and/or commercial sector.
  • Seeking and building strong cross-sectional relationships.
  • Workforce planning and development, including ability to disseminate information in a way that achieves buy in from stakeholders.
  • Involvement in business planning, workforce and people planning processes including strategic work.
  • Proven track record of leading and facilitating change in complex situations with a wide cohort of professionals.
