In short: IT Business Analyst with demonstrable experience in Operational Technology (OT) required to join the cyber team of a large utilities company. This team focuses on Industrial Control Systems, SCADA, Distributed Control Systems working towards IEC62443 and knowledge around some of these OT areas is essential.

Job Purpose Analyses the information and processes needed to support business products being delivered. Formulates functional and non-functional requirements of the business organisation and advises on the lifecycle of the information. Supports creation of detailed business cases, leading development, and implementation of solutions.
Understands change impacts across the Group and is able to manage stakeholders through this. Influences and persuades leaders through change.

Key Accountabilities

  • Investigates operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes
  • Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identifies options for consideration
  • Works with stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration, and in defining acceptance tests
  • Contributes to selection of the business analysis methods, tools and techniques for projects.
  • selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches

Requirements definition

  • Contributes to selection of the requirements approach for projects, selecting appropriately from plan­ driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches
  • Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity
  • Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements
  • Reviews requirements for errors and omissions
  • Establishes the requirements baseline, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source
  • Investigates and processes and applies requests for changes to base-lined requirements

Business process improvement

  • Analyses and designs business processes; identifies alternative solutions to exploit new technologies and automation.
  • Develops graphical representations of business processes to facilitate understanding and decision making.
  • Assesses the feasibility of business process changes and recommends new approaches.

Manages the execution of business process improvements. Selects, tailors, and implements business process improvement methods and tools at programme, project and team level in line with agreed standards.

  • Contributes to the definition of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for business process improvement.

Section 5 - Qualifications & Experience

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Multiple end-to-end examples of Business Analysis or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to derive actionable insights
  • Jira and Confluence or equivalent experience
  • Process flow documentation, swim lane analysis, gap analysis etc
  • Evidence of experience in multiple elicitation techniques for workshops and individuals including 5 whys, 6 Thinking Hats, OKRs, SWOT, PESTLE, MoSCoW etc
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • The capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving
  • The ability to manage time and schedules to meet deadlines
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and intellectually demanding environment
