Senior Electrical Officer - Public Sector

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Officer to join the Housing & Neighbourhood Service in Sheffield. The role involves managing council homes, ensuring they are safe and warm, and delivering excellent service to customers. As the successful candidate you will be responsible for the operational delivery of the domestic electrical programme and other electrical installation programmes.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Deliver contract administration service for the operational delivery of domestic electrical programmes.
  • Implement and monitor on-site quality assurance, defect inspection, and handover procedures in line with council policies.
  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver contract administration service and operational delivery of onsite heating improvement works.
  • Conduct joint inspections with Neighbourhood Officers, providing assistance and guidance on electrical maintenance and improvements.
  • Advise on permission requests from customers relating to changes to electrical installations and assess the standard of tenant's improvements.
  • Undertake inspections and surveys, prepare technical and non-technical reports, and make recommendations for remedial actions.
  • Scope and support strategies for future dwelling requirements, contributing to the aim of being net zero by 2030.
  • Consult and communicate effectively with tenants, contractors, elected members, and colleagues, including liaising with emergency services and other external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience dealing with contractors and providing customer care.
  • Positive attitude to work, innovative thinking, and ability to inspire teamwork.
  • Ability to undertake condition and dilapidation surveys and make recommendations.
  • Organised, calm under pressure, and able to produce high-quality reports.
  • Leadership skills and experience in consulting with customers about capital programmes.
  • Must hold the 18th edition IEE wiring regulations qualification.
  • Understanding of legionella legislation is desirable, with training provided if necessary.
