About the business

Specialist provider of high-performance construction equipment and small to large scale electrical sanitation products ranging from pressure washers to vehicles

Currently generating £7M in turnover, the business has significant untapped potential. With strong group backing, a respected product base, and early momentum in the EU, we believe this company can become one of the most commercially valuable businesses within the wider group- under the right leadership.

The opportunity

We are seeking a sales-led, operationally engaged Managing Director to take full commercial and strategic ownership of the business — personally driving top-line growth, while building the structure, team, and momentum required to scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on being close to customers, engaged with their team, and focused on execution. You will have the autonomy to shape strategy and structure — backed by a commercially focused and supportive Group Board.

Key responsibilities

Sales & Commercial Growth

  • Personally lead sales efforts, securing new business and expanding existing client relationships across councils, resellers, and direct industrial users.
  • Drive expansion in the UK and build on early-stage EU sales opportunities to establish a strong international foothold.
  • Implement a structured sales process with clear metrics, accountability, and pipeline management.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to align brand messaging, campaigns, and customer engagement strategy.

Strategic leadership

  • Define and execute a clear growth strategy, positioning the business as a leader in its category.
  • Identify new sectors, geographies, and product opportunities for long-term revenue expansion.
  • Shape the organisation to support growth — including team development, recruitment, and role design.

Operational management

  • Establish and monitor clear KPIs across all functions — sales, operations, aftersales, and customer service.
  • Improve efficiency in areas such as, service delivery, and fulfilment responsiveness.
  • Ensure strong internal collaboration between commercial, technical, and support functions.

Finance (in collaboration with the Group Board)

  • Work closely with the Board to oversee budgeting, performance tracking, and cost control.
  • Provide transparent, regular reporting on commercial performance, pipeline, and risks.
  • Maintain clear alignment between operational decisions and financial outcomes.

People & organisational development

  • Build a high-performing organisation with clear roles, responsibilities, and development paths.
  • Lead recruitment and team structuring to support growth, including succession planning for key roles.
  • Foster a performance-led culture where individuals are accountable and supported to grow beyond their comfort zones.
  • Promote employee engagement, collaboration, and retention through clear communication and leadership.

Stakeholder & external relations

  • Represent the company externally at trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.
  • Act as a visible and credible ambassador for the brand — building trust with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong networks within the industry to enhance visibility and open doors to new opportunities.

Working expectations

This is a fully engaged, in-person leadership role:

  • 3 days per week onsite with the team at head office
  • 2 days per week in the field, visiting clients, attending meetings, or leading sales efforts
  • Not a remote-working position — personal presence and hands-on leadership are key to success

Ideal candidate profile

We are looking for a proven commercial leader who enjoys selling, leading, and building — equally comfortable engaging clients, managing performance, and shaping strategy.

You are likely to bring:

  • A strong track record in B2B sales and business growth, ideally involving technical, capital, or equipment-based products
  • Experience personally leading sales while overseeing broader business functions
  • Background in SME or scale-up environments, with experience in commercial transformation or turnaround
  • Financial awareness and operational confidence, with an ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders
  • A practical, engaging leadership style that drives performance and motivates teams

Desirable:

  • Experience with public sector or local authority clients
  • Exposure to EU markets or early-stage international growth
  • Familiarity with channel management, resellers, or dealer networks

What we offer

  • Full strategic and operational responsibility for a high-potential business
  • Competitive salary with performance-based financial rewards (non-equity)
  • Freedom to shape your own team, structure, and approach
  • A respected and growing brand with wide market appeal
  • A supportive, commercially experienced Group Board committed to your success
