Transport and Warehouse Manager - The Role:
We are looking for a Transport and Warehouse Manager of our branch in Trafford Park to plan and co-ordinate the day-to-day transport operations and to manage the domestic transport fleet to ensure a compliant, cost effective and on-time service to our customers whilst maximising profitability.
As our Transport and Warehouse Manager, you're not just managing vehicles; you're managing a team of supervisors, administration staff, drivers and warehouse staff. You'll ensure compliance, optimise routes, and maintain the high standard of service our clients have come to expect. It's a role where your expertise and leadership shine contributing to our reputation of trust, respect and continual improvement.
A typical day looks like lots of variety, including everything from routine team management and daily operational responsibilities to process improvement and wide-scale operational contingency tasks. You'll also be a role model and mentor to your team.
Transport and Warehouse Manager - Key Responsibilities:
- Engage and motivate your team with a culture of ownership and high performance
- Involvement in transport routing
- Improve and streamline processes, whilst creating best practices with your colleagues
- Use your analytical skills to find practical and simple solutions to complex problems
- Promote Davies Turner's Health and Safety standards, including Group HSE Compliance reporting
- Act as the responsible and accountable person in respect of the Operator Licence (O Licence)
- Accountable for Insurance claims management
- Ensure fleet and driver compliance through active monitoring and reporting
Transport and Warehouse Manager - You:
For this Transport and Warehouse Manager opportunity, if you have the following skills and experience, we want to hear from you:
Basic Qualifications:-
- Holds Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) National
- Proven experience in management of a fast-paced traffic office and freight warehouse
- Excellent knowledge of transport and warehousing methods, costs and benefits
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing people; experience of people management
- Committed work ethic demonstrating drive and initiative
- Passion for delivering continuous improvement with strong problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of good practice relating to Health and Safety
- The ability to accept criticism and to remain calm, working well under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively and a good level of business English
- Good Administration and IT Skills
Preferred Qualifications: -
- Experience of being named on an Operator's Licence within the Transport industry.
In addition, you will need the right to work in the UK - we cannot sponsor work permits.
