Head of Financial Accounting | £450-525pd | Well-known Charity | 6 month contract | 2 days in London office
This Head of Financial Accounting position is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected charity. This crucial role would be a vital position to effectively lead and develop the finance team and deliver both statutory reporting as well as manage the operational financial support to the organisation and providing technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting into the Director of Finance and deputising where necessary
- Leading and developing a team across financial accounting, transactional finance and systems
- Planning for year-end including delivery of accurate and timely reporting
- Overseeing statutory reporting and delivering both quarterly and yearly accounts prep.
- Production of analysis and commentary for budgeting and forecasting.
- Coordinating financial processes across the department and supplying opportunities for improvement across both systems and policies
- Preparing and updating Management Accounts, investigating variances, and identifying areas for improvement
- Oversee the transactional finance function ensuring accuracy across AP/AR and payroll.
- Identify and implement opportunities to transform and improve the performance of the end to end finance service for the charity
Person Specification
- A fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA)
- A strong and capable manager with previous management experience
- Ideally experience of working in the charity sector however not essential
- Understanding of working in a complex finance function
- Experience of leading the year-end and a competent Excel user
This is a great opportunity to work with a motivated, technically strong and passionate team. The position would be 2 days in their Central London offices and has the opportunity to go permanent following a 6 month initial contract. Candidates must be immediately available or available at short notice.
