About The Role

At Whitworths, we are on a mission to support the nation in improving its eating habits by adding a little of what is good for you to every meal occasion.

As part of our growth, we are looking for an

, working currently within FMCG, or the packaging industry, with their focus being on NPD and EPD. Someone who recognises how to take packaging concepts and customer briefs through to on shelf products. If this is you, you would join our team helping drive our brand and customer own label packaging development through specification management, print technology and continuous improvement.

With our purpose of fighting disease, fuelling health, one bite at a time, this is an incredibly exciting time to join our business. Having relaunched our brand, we are becoming a disruptor in the market as we not only drive our brand, but we are thinking bigger and through our lobbying efforts, aim to change the thinking about the 5-a-day to include nuts and seeds and so deliver real category growth. We see packaging supporting this purpose and our mission.

Our successful candidate will ideally have worked with flexible and corrugated materials. You will be familiar with product launch processes, organising and running factory trials, artwork approval and specification management. Your experience will tell you that it's a team effort, and so you will be a collaborative worker, able to influence, sometimes lead and motivate others across our business to deliver on the project timelines.

More about you:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working within the FMCG or packaging sectors.
  • A strong understanding of packaging materials, functionality, and testing procedures.
  • Experience in working with a variety of packaging formats and technologies (e.g., - rigid plastics, flexibles, corrugated cardboard).
  • Excellent knowledge of current packaging legislation and regulations.
  • The ability to develop and maintain detailed technical specifications.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including projects NPD, Process, Procurement, Engineering, Production and Warehousing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional planning and organising skills
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Someone who demonstrates our STAR values of solution focused, teamwork, accountability and respect.
