About the Job:

As the Legal Administrator/Paralegal you will be responsible for delivering results through taking ownership of key tasks in delivery of the Department and Company's objectives. You will support the Head of Department, Procurement Manager and Legal & Commercial Junior Associate in the delivery of key legal, governance, risk and compliance (LGRC) projects.

LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling, and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across North London making a difference to the environment and the local community from the work we do.

By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with various team members in assisting with general administrative duties within the team, including but not limited to managing the departmental posts in relation to legal matters and PO/Invoice requests, support the delivery of the departmental objectives, KPIs under main contract and engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Assisting with drafting, reviewing and execution of key contractual documents - including supplier contracts and site leases.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of contractual records, using digital tools
  • Ensuring standard contracts and Ts & Cs are kept up-to-date
  • Managing the insurance claims and litigation process
  • Assisting with the delivery of the legal and governance training and engagement strategy.
  • Assisting with any disputes arising from supplier contracts, and other contractual relationships, including liaising with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaising with external counsel, insurers and claims handlers on personal injury, property damage and motor insurance claims.
  • Take personal initiative and ownership of maintaining the department's technical expertise in relation to relevant company, procurement and governance legislative changes and frameworks.
  • Support the Legal and Governance Sustainability Strategy for reporting in the annual Sustainability Report.
  • Assist with actions to ensure the Company remains compliant with relevant legislation e.g. the Companies Act 2006, DPA 2018 and FOI 200 etc

Requirements

  • Interested in operating in a renewable energy environment and contributing to a business in transition
  • Willingness to learn and implement best practice in relation to the other functions of the department
  • Flexibility in approach to completing multiple tasks with the ability to work within a team environment but also on solo projects
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Commercially minded i.e. used to operating in a 'for profit' environment and interested in contributing to a growing business
  • Ability to work under pressure in delivering high quality governance service to internal stakeholders and the board
  • Excellent influencing and relationship building skills
  • Able to work well as part of a team

Experience:

  • Experience working under pressure and having a clear understanding of the delivery of high quality service
  • Experience working at a law firm or in an inhouse legal department
  • Experience of public sector contracting would be an asset
  • Previous experience of working on small projects would be an advantage

  • The salary is £43,000-£50,000 (depending on experience)
