Road Freight Forwarder

- Location: Manchester - 2 days working from home
- Salary: up to £32,000 DOE
We are seeking a Road Freight Forwarder who excels in building contractual relationships and negotiating with carriers. This role involves a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, ensuring that our customers' transportation needs are met with efficiency and precision.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop supply chain solutions to support customer strategy effectively
- Resolve problems by identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Maintain and grow relationships with carrier accounts
- Identifying opportunities for additional collaboration
- Research new carriers, generate leads, and build new carrier relationships
- Conduct calls with carriers to determine availability, commitment, and negotiate rates
- Ensure customer load requirements are met on committed and/or ad-hoc shipments
- Identify backup carriers for critical situations
- Study market trends to make informed decisions
- Offer trucks to Capacity teams within the network
- Manage personal development plans to ensure continuous professional growth
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong commercial skills
Preferred:
- 1 - 3 years of experience in a commercial role
- Knowledge of additional Eastern European languages is an asset
- Entrepreneurial character with an international mindset
- Strong ability to persuade, motivate, negotiate, and influence others
- Ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results
