We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team, providing vital support to children, young people, and families. This role is integral to promoting our universal open access Family Hub offer and connecting families with targeted, evidence-based interventions. The ideal candidate will have experience in early help, safeguarding, and promoting positive healthy lifestyles.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Act as a key point of contact within the Family Hub, engaging in sensitive conversations and connecting families with appropriate interventions.
  • Support children and families through Start for Life and Family Hub programmes, employing evidence-based assessments and interventions.
  • Provide Early Help using a strengths-based approach, collaborating with multi-agency teams to safeguard children and young people.
  • Observe and assess children's development and behaviour, focusing on school readiness and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and emotional wellbeing, aiming to reduce hospital attendances and admissions.
  • Make referrals to Family Hub services to promote healthier lifestyles and support individual capacity building.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with Council guidance and manage resources effectively.
  • Deliver against the Family Hub funded services programme, including perinatal mental health and early communication development.
  • Practice within baby-friendly standards, supporting informed feeding choices and managing complex feeding difficulties.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and families to gather feedback and tailor service delivery.
  • Collaborate with professionals and agencies to ensure seamless service provision and effective decision-making.
  • Support the training and development of students and volunteers within the service.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role within family support, early years, or community health.
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation.
  • Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage and principles of school readiness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with diverse families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and agencies.
  • Competence in maintaining accurate records and managing resources.
  • A solution-focused approach to service delivery with a priority on safeguarding.
