Opportunity Overview: A fantastic opportunity has opened to temporarily join my client, multinational investment bank and financial services company, as a Finance Analyst specializing in Operational Risk in Glasgow.

Role Objective: The role will reside within the Finance Division, under the Finance Risk and Assurance (FinRiA) function. FinRiA is represented in our Glasgow, London, New York, Mumbai, Tokyo and Hong Kong offices performing an oversight, governance, execution and assurance role in relation to the Finance division in support of the Firm's operational risk programs and objectives. The group interacts across all areas of Finance, Firm Operational Risk Department, the Front Office, Internal Audit as well as Operations. This role will support all aspects of Finance owned operational risk data governance, including control validation, reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist global colleagues in the execution of various streams of operational risk related work, i.e., RCSA, ORIs, Issues and Controls Governance
  • Perform monitoring and quality assurance activities over risks and controls, ensuring these are appropriate and in line with expectations, with consideration to ORIs and Issues captured in Firm Risk Tools
  • Complete Finance operational risk reporting with a focus on risks and controls
  • Partner with colleagues and internal clients on various Finance-owned risk and controls related initiatives to improve the design, monitoring and reporting
  • Attend various FinRiA, Finance and Firmwide forums focussed on risk and control governance
  • Ad hoc operational risk focused duties, as required

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of operational risk concepts and reporting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of operational risk.

Analytical skills with a risk and control focus and high regard for attention to detail

  • Critical thinking to challenge processes, solve for ad-hoc queries and creativity to suggest alternative approaches
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Committed and self-motivated individual who can demonstrate initiative and problem-solving ability
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to deal with colleagues/clients of all levels
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
