Pricing & Market Analyst

Role Overview:

Smarta Energy is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual with an understanding of electricity and gas purchasing or a keen desire to learn. This role is suited for either a recent graduate in a numerical discipline or an experienced candidate looking to continue their ongoing career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain pricing models for electricity and gas contracts, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Pricing Manager on contract pricing, supplier price analysis, and monitoring of market-moving information.
  • Provide accurate, cost-reflective energy prices to the Sales Department in a professional format for client contract renewals.
  • Liaise with clients and colleagues, negotiate daily with suppliers, and ensure timely submission of signed contracts to suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on market trends and dynamics that could impact pricing strategies.
  • Prepare professional energy analysis reports, including graphs and commentary, for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all prices are locked in before market closure and confirm rates with clients and consultants.
  • Maintain accurate records and filing of contracts in the company's CRM and electronic systems.
  • Support the Pricing Manager with ad-hoc requests and additional duties as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies, standards, and procedures, promoting a culture of innovation, openness, and honesty.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with advanced Excel skills beneficial.

  • Preferred:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a pricing or data analysis role.

  • Familiarity with coding languages such as SQL, VBA, and Python.

  • A degree in a quantitative subject (e.g., Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science) or relevant industry experience.
