Solutions Architect

A leading business unit specialising in reinsurance and third-party capital management services is seeking an experienced Solution Architect.
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong technical skills along with an appetite to lead a team further down the line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Delivery: Take full ownership for designing and delivering modern solutions that are secure, scalable, performant, resilient, compliant, cost-effective, and commercially viable. Ensure solutions meet immediate stakeholder requirements and align with broader strategies, standards, and principles.
- Agile Engagement: Assist and empower Agile delivery teams throughout the lifecycle of change initiatives, from requirements gathering to business as usual (BAU) operations.
- Architecture Deliverables: Produce architecture deliverables (HLDs/MLDs, diagrammatic artifacts) suitable for the specific change, using consistent templates and approved tools. While expertise in all areas of architecture isn't necessary, ownership of information gathering, collation, and documentation is required.
- Practice Maturity: Collaborate with the Lead Architect to advance the architecture practice, embedding principles, standards, and strategies into Agile team planning and delivery.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business domain experts and product owners to understand problem statements and value realisation opportunities, often alongside business analysts.
- Adaptable Communication: Engage with a range of colleagues, from deeply technical staff to senior business leaders, adapting engagement style and terminology to stakeholder interests.
- Vendor Collaboration: Collaborate closely with vendors to ensure their suitability and the suitability of their products, including contributing to and reviewing RFIs and RFPs.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of solution architecture, its phases/layers, and architectural processes.
- Experience in on-premise, cloud, and hybrid solution design, including Windows and Azure PaaS. Knowledge of containerization is desirable.
- Proficiency in producing architecture deliverables and artifacts.
- Experience in conceptual and logical data modeling, with the ability to clearly represent complex ideas graphically.
Nice to Haves:
- Familiarity with Software Delivery Lifecycles and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of TOGAF, Zachman, Kotusev, or similar EA frameworks.
- Knowledge of Agile (Scrum) is necessary; SAFe knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with Confluence, Teams, LucidChart, and Jira.
- Experience in team leadership and mentoring is preferred but not essential.
