Our client, one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, is seeking a talented Financial Controller to join their team in London. With a strong presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses, they offer a diverse range of financial services to their global customers.

As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Product Control to deliver an end-to-end revenue reporting and balance control solution for the newly established Synthetic Prime Brokerage (SPB) business line. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team and contribute to the design, testing, and implementation of new Gloss functionality and a control framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main finance point of contact for the SPB Project team and front office, providing subject matter expertise.
  • Ensure the delivery of finance tasks and design and implement trading balance sheet and profit and loss (P&L) reporting controls.
  • Develop end-to-end finance controls and test the full accounting process for each product involved.
  • Update accounting maps and set up account posting logic in Gloss.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new SPB related functionality in Gloss.
  • Establish the new P&L reporting process and manage the go-live, resolving any issues before delivery.
  • Address adhoc reporting requests from senior management and the front office.
  • Support existing product processes and design streamlined integration for the new SPB business.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant with a strong technical accounting background.
  • In-depth knowledge of Vanilla Securities products (Equities, FX, Derivatives, Swaps) and their accounting.
  • Experience in data analysis and Excel-based data manipulation.
  • Previous involvement in testing/UAT activities, subledger/accounting rules engines, and GL migrations.
  • Strong understanding of the securities industry within Finance and/or Product Control.
  • Familiarity with securities valuations, reconciliations, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills.
  • Proficiency in systems such as Gloss settlement and subledger system, Oracle Cloud, and Excel.
