My client is a leading innovator in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, dedicated to creating high-quality, safe, and effective products. We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Formulation Chemist or Senior Formulation Chemist to join our Formulation Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about research and development to contribute to the rapid throughput of new cosmetic/cosmeceutical products and the development of a range of topical pharmaceutical medicines and medical devices.

Role Overview: As a Formulation Chemist / Senior Formulation Chemist, you will play a key role in driving projects from concept to launch, ensuring that all products meet our stringent quality, safety, and efficacy standards. This role is dynamic and varied, requiring collaboration with multiple departments to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulation Development: Design, plan, and develop robust formulations based on project briefs, considering claims, novel technologies, excipient/packaging compatibility, product performance, stability, sustainability, risks, and costs.
  • Documentation: Fully and accurately document all research and development activities while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem Solving: Work collaboratively within the team to support and troubleshoot existing and new product development challenges.
  • Production Trials: Participate in production-scale trials to ensure a smooth transition from development to commercial scale.
  • Clinical Support: Assist in clinical and pilot studies to support product development.
  • Industry Trends: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and scientific advancements, attend trade shows, and identify potential opportunities for product improvements and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in cosmetic or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Experience in formulation development of skincare, personal care, or topical/transdermal formulations, preferably in the cosmetics or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of cosmetic/pharmaceutical ingredients and their interactions.
  • Familiarity with cosmetic, medicinal, or medical device regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
  • A proactive 'can do' attitude with a passion for continuous learning and a growth mindset.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
