Laboratory Technician

Our client, an industry leading aerospace engineering firm, are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their technical department. In this pivotal role the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for ensuring the equipment used and testing processes meet aerospace specifications. This is a hands-on role which requires attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Previous experience in a similar production or lab-based role is essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analysis and testing of incoming ingots and chemicals to ensure they meet the strict production specifications
  • Hardness and tensile testing of metallurgical samples.
  • Compliance checks and calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including temperature indicators, balances, treatment ovens and PH monitors.
  • Scheduling external subcontractors to perform calibration on specialist equipment. .
  • Production and distribution of lab reports for chemical and tensile testing
  • Ordering laboratory equipment and materials.

The successful candidate will be a motivated individual who is flexible and willing to learn continuous best practice. You will be used to working to set standards and procedures and able to follow detailed instructions. A good level of manual dexterity, a methodical approach to work and a good level of computer literacy are essential.

Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 6am -2 pm.
