FTSE Employment Tax Manager - Newcastle

We are searching for a highly motivated and experienced Employment Tax Manager to join a FTSE listed company within their Tax department based in Newcastle.

The Role

In this pivotal role, you will be recognised as an expert in all areas of UK Employment Tax. Reporting to the Head of Employment Tax, you will work closely with a team of tax professionals, HR and finance colleagues. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping robust tax reporting processes and driving a culture of positive tax compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex UK Employment Tax issues.
  • Conduct internal reviews to identify and mitigate potential tax risks.
  • Provide specialist input on tax implications for key corporate projects.
  • Assist with preparation and review of UK tax returns.
  • Maintain excellent relations with HMRC and respond to inquiries.
  • Manage and mitigate tax risks across the group.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in UK Employment Tax legislation.
  • Maintain and update internal tax procedures and manuals.
  • Communicate tax updates and their impact on the business to relevant stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in UK Employment Tax, ideally from accountancies, or large corporate organisations.
  • Ideally you will hold a professional qualification (ATT, CTA, ACA) or qualified by experience.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to a non-specialist audience.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK, potentially involving overnight stays.

Additional Information

  • Knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of expatriate tax is advantageous but not essential.
