Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority for a Finance Business Partner role to join the team on a temporary basis to lead by example in delivering comprehensive financial business partnering services. This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic financial advice, ensure robust financial management, and support transformative initiatives.
Main responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial advice, technical support, resource management, and oversee grant and internal financial control management.
- Support the compilation of Statutory Annual Accounts and ensure robust financial governance and controls are in place.
- Identify and support opportunities to transform service delivery and contribute to business intelligence and benchmarking for informed decision-making.
- Understand customer needs, offer high-satisfaction services, and provide financial advice to budget holders, managers, directors, portfolio holders, and members.
- Provide support for internal and external audits and ensure adherence to guidelines, legislation, and council policies.
- Manage and support accountancy officers and apprentices, ensure performance and deadlines are met, and deputise for senior finance roles when necessary.
Candidate Requirements
- Member of CCAB body undertaking active CPD, or actively studying for a CCAB/CIMA qualification.
- Providing financial support services within large or public sector organisations, preferably local authorities.
- Public sector budgeting, accounting procedures, and financial modeling.
- Develop robust business cases and financial benefits management.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to differing customer needs and provide business partnering support.
- Extensive knowledge of local government financial policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
- Understanding and implementing financial regulations and legislation.
