We are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join a vibrant SEN primary school in Croydon. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for education and a commitment to supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher, as well as providing targeted support to ensure a positive learning environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Covering classes across the primary phase, ensuring continuity of education in the teacher's absence.
  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils remain on task.
  • Adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH.
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Providing feedback on pupil progress and behaviour to teachers and SENCO.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEN team to support pupils' learning and wellbeing.
  • Assisting with the preparation of teaching materials and learning activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role within a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of pupils with SEMH.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage pupils.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater for different learning styles.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and patient approach to supporting children's learning.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
