  • Location: Waterlooville, Hampshire
  • Hourly Rate: £13.00-£13.50/hr days, £13.50-£14.00/hr nights
  • Hours: 30hrs per week, (some nights and weekends)

Reed are working with a small care home in Waterlooville, Hampshire who are seeking a dedicated Senior Carer to join their team, taking responsibility alongside the Registered Manager to set and maintain high standards of care. The role involves supporting the management in all aspects of running the home, including taking charge during the absence of management.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Ensure all staff contribute to the efficient running of the home and create a caring environment for residents.
  • Review service users' care plans and support their emotional, spiritual, physical, material, and health needs.
  • Assist residents with personal care tasks such as dressing, bathing, and toileting.
  • Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including the care and use of aids and equipment.
  • Promote mental and physical activity of residents, supporting them within the local community.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as making beds, tidying rooms, and light cleaning.
  • Assist with meal preparation and service and provide support to residents during mealtimes.
  • Answer calls, greet visitors, and handle reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Administer medication as required and report any issues to the manager.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and legislation, and participate in on-call duties.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a care setting with a focus on high-quality care provision.
  • Ability to supervise staff, conduct appraisals, and promote good communication.
  • Willingness to undertake training and deliver training to care staff.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and the ability to respond to outbreaks effectively.
  • Competent in administrative tasks and record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to care.
