The Role:
As Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in leading a year group to success, both academically and pastorally. You will be responsible for the welfare, behavior, and academic progress of students in your year group, working closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure that every student thrives. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated educator who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the year group, ensuring high standards of behavior, attendance, and achievement.
  • Monitor and track the academic progress of students, implementing interventions where necessary.
  • Provide pastoral support, addressing any issues related to student welfare and personal development.
  • Work closely with form tutors and subject teachers to support student learning and well-being.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers, keeping them informed of student progress and any concerns.
  • Organize and lead year group assemblies, events, and activities that promote a positive school culture.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and implement school policies.
  • Support the school's safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. ?

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) with experience in a pastoral role, such as Head of Year or Pastoral Lead.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing secondary school students.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to managing student behavior and welfare.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
