Are you ready to make a real impact on the lives of young people who need it most? Do you have the resilience, empathy, and commitment to support children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges in a nurturing and structured environment?

If you're looking for a role where every day is different and where you can help unlock the potential of students facing barriers to learning, we'd love to hear from you!

Why this role?

  • A challenging but rewarding environment: Work with students who need tailored support to succeed, building strong relationships and helping them re-engage with education.
  • Diverse opportunities: Whether supporting Key Stage 4 students in core subjects or working with Key Stage 3 Nurture students with ASD, sensory needs, and additional behaviour challenges, you'll play a vital role in their development.
  • Career growth: Access fully funded training, qualifications, and opportunities for long-term career progression.
  • A dynamic team: Join a passionate, supportive team committed to providing the best outcomes for every learner.
  • Inclusive culture: Be part of a setting that values adaptability, understanding, and positive behaviour reinforcement.

About the role:

This is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting that provides essential education and support for children who have been permanently excluded or need alternative provision. The role involves working with students with SEMH challenges, additional behaviour needs, and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

What we're looking for:

We are seeking reliable, resilient, and adaptable individuals who are confident in their ability to work with vulnerable children. Your attitude and approach are just as important as your experience.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in SEMH, Alternative Provision (AP), or PRU settings (Highly Desirable)
  • Understanding of or experience with challenging behaviours
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students, tailoring strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Support the delivery of engaging lessons in core and foundation subjects, helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Stay calm under pressure and build trust and relationships with students, reinforcing positive behaviours.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to provide a consistent, structured environment.

The Perks:

  • Flexible working arrangements: Full-time and part-time roles considered.
  • A supportive team culture: Enjoy regular networking events and staff social activities.
  • Free lunch provided: A small gesture to help you through your day.
  • Career development opportunities: Gain experience that can lead to permanent roles within the school.

What to expect:

This role will challenge and inspire you. During your visit, you'll meet polite and eager students and witness moments of challenging behaviour-both are part of the reality of working in a PRU. How you respond to these challenges-staying calm, understanding the situation, and setting clear expectations-will define your success in this role.

If you're passionate about making a difference and ready to step into a rewarding and impactful role, don't hesitate-apply today!
